Second aid convoy enters Rafah crossing from Egypt en route to Gaza
A second convoy of aid trucks entered the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing on Sunday, heading towards the Gaza Strip, according to Egyptian security and humanitarian sources.
Shortly after the convoy entered the crossing witnesses said a blast was heard in the vicinity of the crossing and that ambulances could be heard deploying from the Egyptian side. The cause and exact location of the blast were not immediately clear.

New Israeli warning to Gaza residents as first aid trickles in
Israel's military has warned Gaza residents that they risk being identified as accomplices "in a terrorist organisation" if they do not move south, Palestinians there said, amid growing humanitarian fears with little aid being allowed in.
More than a million people lived in the north of the Gaza Strip and hundreds of thousands have gone southwards to cram into temporary refuges despite unremitting air and artillery strikes also hitting the southern areas they have fled to.

Russia seeks new Security Council meeting on Israel-Hamas war
Russia intends to hold another UN Security Council meeting on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the war between Israel and the militant group Hamas, Russia's deputy UN envoy said Saturday, reports AFP.
Russia convened a meeting on the war on Monday. However, its ceasefire resolution failed due to opposition from four council members including the US, which criticised its draft for not mentioning Hamas.

Gaza death toll rises to 4,651: health ministry
At least 4,651 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of the war sparked by Hamas's October 7 attacks on Israel, the territory's Hamas-run health ministry said Sunday, reports AFP.
The number had increased from 4,385 on Saturday, when Israel announced it would step up raids, and now includes 1,873 children, the ministry said. There are 14,245 wounded, the statement added.

Overnight raids on the Gaza Strip killed at least 55 people, the Hamas government said on Sunday, after Israel announced it was stepping up strikes, reports AFP.
"More than 55 martyrs," the government press office said in a statement on the latest night of bombing in response to the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7.

Escalating attacks by militant group Hezbollah risk "dragging Lebanon into a war", Israel's military said Sunday, after renewed cross-border exchanges of fire that have raised fears of a wider conflict, reports AFP.
"Hezbollah... is dragging Lebanon into a war that it will gain nothing from, but stands to lose a lot," warned Israel Defense Forces spokesman Jonathan Conricus.

Pentagon amps up posture in Mideast in response to Iran 'escalations'
The Pentagon moved Saturday to step up US military readiness in the Middle East in response to what it said were "recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces" across the region.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the activation of air defense systems and notified additional forces that they may be deployed soon.

Israel to intensify Gaza strikes, US pushes for more aid
Israel pounded southern Gaza with air strikes early on Sunday and said it would intensify its attacks in the enclave's north, as the US committed to getting more aid to Palestinians running out of food, water, medicines and fuel.
Palestinian media reported at least 11 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. Palestinian media also said Israel was striking the southern city of Rafah.

Israel calls Hamas' claim it rejected hostage release 'propaganda'
Israel on Saturday described as "propaganda" a claim by Hamas that it had wanted to release two more hostages on humanitarian grounds but that Israel declined to receive them, reports Reuters.
Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Hamas' armed wing, said it informed Qatar of the group's intention to release the two additional people on Friday, the same day it freed Americans Judith Tai Ranaan and her daughter Natalie.
