Rana's father remanded again
Abdul Khalek, father of Sohel Rana, owner of the collapsed building in Savar, was placed on a four-day fresh remand on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the disaster.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh in Dhaka granted his remand in a case filed over the deaths and damages in the April 24 tragedy.
On April 30, he was placed on a 13-day remand in two cases including the above mentioned one.
Detective Branch of police produced Khalek before the court with a five-day remand prayer on conclusion of his earlier remand.
Detectives arrested the father a day after Sohel Rana’s, owner of nine-storey Rana Plaza in Savar, in capital's Moghbazar on April 29.
Savar police filed the case against Rana, his father and the owners of the five garments housed in the building for loss of lives and damages, hours after the collapse.
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakhya later filed the other case for violating the building code.
