French envoy suggests joint planning for development

French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Lummaux said a congenial investment atmosphere is being prevailed in Bangladesh as the existing law and order situation remains at a satisfactory level.

"Existing law and order situation of Bangladesh is fairly satisfactory and investment environment is also favourable," the French Ambassador said when he called on Prime Minister's Political Secretary Haris Chowdhury at the latter's office here yesterday.

Expressing French willingness to extend allout supports to the development activities of the present government, Lummaux said his government is keen to support the potential sectors like telecommunications, agro-based industries, ceramics and handlooms. He also underlined the need for a joint planning for the betterment of the sectors.

Haris Chowdhury termed France as a tested friend for long-time and said France could avail the investment incentives in Bangladesh. He also called upon the envoy to help attract French investors to invest in the country.

Haris Chowdhury also expressed the hope that the existing ties between Bangladesh and France would be geared up in the days ahead.
