Sylhet trains resume after 2hrs of halt
Sylhet’s rail communication with Dhaka and Chittagong resumed this afternoon after two hours of suspension following derailments of a freight train in South Surma upazila, Sylhet.
The train communications resumed around 4:00pm after the carriages and the engine were removed from the tracks by a salvation train coming Sylhet city, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting a railway official.
Earlier, the rail communications of the routes remained suspended as several bogies and the engine of the Sylhet-bound train from Dhaka veered off the tracks at Shipbari around 1:30pm, said Qazi Shahidur Rahman, manager of Sylhet Railways Station.
On information, a rescue train from Sylhet city reached to the spot around 3:00pm and later salvaged the derailed train, he added.
