Beaten for protesting stalking

Pro-Awami League men allegedly beat up teachers and students of Chak Mirpur High School in Daulatpur upazila as the latter protested stalking of girl students yesterday.

Police arrested Enamul Haque, member of upazila unit Krishak League, in this connection.

The injured include teachers Md Lutfar Rahman Tuhin and Md Belal Uddin and students Sanjoy Sutradhar and Faruk Hossain.

Lutfar filed a case, accusing ten identified and 25 to 30 unidentified men, said Daulatpur police.

The alleged stalkers include Obaidul Molla, president of Daulatpur Mitilal Degree College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, and Al Amin, an activist of upazila BCL.

According to the case statement, when the teachers and students were returning to the school after joining the National Mourning Day procession, a group of AL men stalked the girl students.

As the teachers and other students protested the stalking, they came under attack.
