VoIP equipment seized, man held
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested a man and seized a large quantity of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) equipment after raiding his rented flat in Bakalia area of Chittagong city.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sohel Mahmud of Rab-7 said the arrestee, Mohammad Shahdat, 35, runs a mobile phone and accessories business in the city's Riajuddin Bazar area.
“Upon secret information, Rab seized the huge quantity of VoIP equipment after raiding the top floor flat of a three-storey building on Old Bakalia Police Station Road around 5:00pm and detained Shahdat,” he said.
Shahdat had been operating the illegal business from the rented flat for a long time, the official said, adding that he was handed over to Bakalia Police Station and a case was filed.
