Threat to kill physician a reflection of Jamaat's terrorist attitude: home minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said threatening to kill a physician of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University is a reflection of Jamaat's terrorist attitude.
"BSMMU doctor SM Mustafa Zaman came to me last night and explained everything. He provided treatment to Delawar Hossain Sayedee," he said while addressing a discussion on the occasion National Mourning Day in Dhaka.
North South University organised the discussion, marking the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Zaman, also professor of cardiology department at BSMMU, filed a general diary with Dhanmondi Model Police Station last night over the threat.
Regarding the series of bomb attacks across the country on August 17, 2005, the minister said, "You had seen the rise of militants in the country and they wanted to make Bangladesh a militant state."
The minister said the government has not been able to completely eliminate militancy, but it is under control. "Some sleeper cells are still there. They are trying to become active. Our security forces and intelligence agencies are highly efficient. They are working to bring the militants to book," he added.
