The incident was witnessed by our Khulna correspondent and photojournalist at Khulna railway station area on Friday evening.
Around 7:42pm, several BNP activists were picked up policemen from the area in a police van, our Khulna correspondent reported.
"Policemen conducted drives at the residences of over a hundred BNP leaders and activists across Khulna city since Thursday afternoon and have so far detained 47 till today [Friday]," said Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, member secretary of BNP's Khulna Metropolitan unit.
Police, however, refuted the allegation in this regard.
"No such incident of detention or arrest has taken place as far as I know. Anything like that is not supposed to happen either," Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star.
