Recent fire incidents: Govt checking if BNP involved
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the government was looking into the recent incidents of explosion and fire to check whether the BNP had a hand in those after failing in their movement.
"When the prime minister was out of the country, some unexpected incidents happened. Whether they were sabotage or accidents is being thoroughly investigated by the government on the instructions of the prime minister," said Quader while addressing a meeting of the ruling AL with its associate bodies at the party's central office in Gulistan.
Referring to the statement by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul that such a series of events is mysterious, Quader, also the road, transport and bridges minister, said, "We agree with him. Such incidents are mysterious. We have to find out what is behind this mystery."
He said they were looking into whether those who have failed in their movement have resorted to the path of sabotage.
"I express deep grief over the deaths of those who died in the fire incidents in the Rohingya camp and the explosions in Gulistan's Siddique Bazar and Chattogram's Sitakunda. It is being investigated whether any person, organisation or group is behind these mysterious incidents. The home minister said that they are also investigating whether these accidents are sabotage," he added.
He said if BNP fails in the movement, they indulge in arson and terrorism.
