Police sue 1600 BNP men over yesterday’s clash in Nayapaltan
Police field a case against around 1,600 BNP leaders and activists following the clash between the party men and law enforcers in Dhaka's Naya Paltan yesterday.
"Of them, 97 are named accused, and 50 have already been arrested. Besides, there are 1,500 unnamed accused in the case," Salahuddin Mia, officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station, said.
Charges of assaulting police, obstructing them from government work and holding illegal rallies were brought against the accused, he said.
The arrested 50 have already been sent to a Dhaka court, the OC added.
Over a dozen people, including police, were injured in the clash in front of BNP's Nayapaltan headquarters yesterday.
Both BNP and Police blamed each other for the clash.
