Khaleda’s Condition: ‘Unpredictable’ it remains
The health condition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is still unpredictable as there are chances of further bleeding, said doctors.
Although there is no incident of fresh bleeding, the physicians are constantly monitoring her condition, they said.
Khaleda's personal physician AZM Zahid Hossain yesterday said, "She needs constant monitoring as there is a chance of bleeding. Her physical condition is still unpredictable."
On an emergency basis, doctors performed endoscopy and colposcopy on her as her condition deteriorated due to internal and external bleeding on Wednesday night, he said.
The physicians are yet to identify all the sources of bleeding, but the bleeding has temporarily stopped from those identified, the physicians said.
Khaleda was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on November 13 and moved to the CCU on the very next day, nearly a week after she was discharged from the same healthcare facility.
According to her family members, Khaleda could not eat anything solid. Thus, she was given liquid food.
"Since the admission to the hospital, she is taking only liquids. No solid food," said one of her close relatives.
The government should allow Khaleda to immediately go abroad, with or without condition, in whichever country they want, the family source said.
Khaleda was sent to jail on February 8, 2018, in a corruption case. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, she was given a temporary release on certain conditions on March 25 last year. The term of her release has been extended four times so far.
