Islami Andolon Bangladesh places 15-point demand at their nat’l council
Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) today placed a 15-point demand including formation of an election-time national government comprising of leaders of all registered political parties.
IAB Amir Syed Mohammad Rejaul Karim came up with the demand while speaking at the national council of the Islamist party in the city's Suhrawardy Udyan.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud, BNP Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu, AB party Convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim gave the welcome speech at the programme.
In the 15-point demand, the IAB Amir Rejaul Karim said, the parliament will have to be dissolved before announcement of the election schedule.
Armed forces will have to be deployed after announcement of the election schedule and will continue to be deployed till the new elected government takes office, the party added.
Rejaul Karim also demanded that the members of the armed forces will have to give magistracy power on the election day.
He also demanded the government take measures to prevent the price hike of essentials at any cost and bring those who are involved with the market manipulation to book.
The IAB chief called upon the government to create level playing field for all political parties during the election and give them equal opportunities in the media.
They also demanded not to use electronic voting machines in the election and disqualify corrupted people from participating in the election.
