Clash with police: Over 200 BNP men sued in Cumilla
Over 200 BNP men, including Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, have been sued over Saturday's clash with police in Cumilla's Chandina upazila.
Of the accused, 36 were named and some 170 were unnamed, reports our Cumilla correspondent quoting Sahabuddin Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandina Police Station.
The police station's Sub-Inspector Taposh Das filed the case in the early hours of yesterday on sabotage charges and attacking police, the OC added.
Earlier on Saturday, BNP held nationwide road march programme. As part of it, the party men organised the programme at Khadghar area under Chandina upazila on Dhaka-Chattagram highway.
But police tried to intercept them triggering the clash, said locals and witnesses.
BNP leaders claimed 10 of their party men were injured in the clash, while police said at least two law enforcers were wounded.
