BNP not afraid of elections: Mirza Abbas
BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas today (October 15, 2022) said they will return home after meeting the demand of a non-party caretaker government.
"BNP is not afraid of elections. We will return home after fulfilling the demand of a non-party caretaker government," said the BNP senior leader at the party's second divisional rally in Mymensingh city.
The rally was organised by Mymensingh city unit BNP, held in the Polytechnic Institute field, reports our local correspondent.
Alleging that the politics of murder and disappearance is still going on, Mirza Abbas said the prime minister has expressed the fear of famine in 2023 but did not mention the reason. The government will have to say the reason behind possible famine.
The rallies of Chattogram and Mymensingh have proved that no more elections can be held under this government, he added.
Speaking at the rally, BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan said people of Bangladesh no longer want to see the Awami League in power.
He said they wanted to disrupt today's public gathering by stopping buses and other transports but could not. People will no longer accept their resistance.
"Our fair demands will be settled on the street with you (party men)," Nazrul Islam Khan added.
Presided over by BNP Mymensingh City Unit president Prof Shafiqul Islam, the rally was addressed, among others, by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, party leaders Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Md Shariful Alam.
