Hefajat Amir Mohibullah Babunagari hospitalised
Hefajat-e-Islam's Amir Mohibullah Babunagari has been hospitalised after being infected with viral fever.
He is undergoing treatment at Nazirhat Sheba Clinic in Chattogram's Fatickchari upazila after family members and fellows rushed him to the hospital on Saturday, reports our Chattogram correspondent.
"Mohibullah Babunagari has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since Saturday after developing fever," Md Idris, organising secretary of Hefajat-e-Islam, told The Daily Star confirming the development.
"The doctors at the hospital said he got infected with viral fever after examining his condition. Now his condition is improving and we hope he will be released from the hospital by next couple of days," he said.
Mohibullah is the maternal uncle of Junayed Babunagari, former amir of the organisation. He was made Hefajat chief after the sudden demise of Junayed Babunagari on August 19 this year.
He is the chief adviser of Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh and chancellor of Al-Jamiatul Islamiah Azizul Uloom Babunagar.
In 2018, he resigned as vice-president of Islami Oikya Jote.
Born in February 1935 in Babungar village of Daulatpur union under Chattogram's Fatikchhari upazila, Mohibullah Babunagari is a Deobandi Islamic scholar, politician and religious speaker.
His father Harun Babunagari, a renowned Islamic scholar, was the founder of Al-Jamiatul Islamiah Azizul Uloom Babunagar.
