GDP growth not helping people: CAB
While the number of rich people is increasing, the income of low- and middle-income groups has dropped after the pandemic, said Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) yesterday.
"In many countries, GDP has dropped but the GDP growth continues in Bangladesh. However, common people are not getting its benefits. The government needs to pay attention to it," said CAB President Ghulam Rahman.
He said this at the CAB's Member Conference-2022 and launching of its digital platform "Voktakontho" held virtually.
Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh suggested that consumers act more responsibly while criticising the government over price hike.
AHM Shafiquzzaman, director general, Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection, said the directorate has been working to protect the rights of consumers.
