Complaint submitted to Ctg court to sue Prof Serajul Islam Chowdhury, 2 others
A complaint has been submitted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Chattogram for lodging a case against Dhaka University's Prof Emeritus Serajul Islam Chowdhury and two others.
One Nazim Uddin Sujon (50) submitted the complaint to the court bringing allegation against them of making derogatory remark against Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The other two accused in the complaint are: Rashed Rauf, associate editor of the daily Azadi, and author Nesar Ahmed.
Complainant's lawyer Shahida Nur confirmed the developments to The Daily Star.
However, the lawyer could not confirm whether the complaint was accepted by the court.
Contacted, Prof Serajul Islam told The Daily Star that he came to know of the development today.
"The writing referred to in the complaint was published in 2006 in the fourth volume of my essay collection," he said.
"If cases are filed based on old write-ups in this way, then no one would be able to write any more. In this manner, one may even sue Rabindranath too," Prof Serajul Islam added.
