Govt sends another SP into forced retirement
Another superintendent of police has been sent into forced retirement.
Munir Hossain, a special superintendent of CID, had been an officer on special duty (OSD) since 2011 and was sent into retirement yesterday "for public interest", said a circular issued by the home ministry.
Munir was supposed to retire on September 29, 2023. At least two of his 15th BCS batchmates now hold the rank of additional IGP, the second highest rank in the force.
Between October and November, the ministry sent two additional deputy inspector generals and four SPs into retirement.
On October 16, the government also sent Mokbul Hossain, information and broadcasting secretary, into retirement on the same grounds.
Like the previous orders, yesterday's circular too invoked section 45 of Bangladesh Service Rules-2018.
According to the section, upon the president's approval, the government can send an employee, who has completed 25 years of service, into retirement in public interest, without showing any specific reason.
