48 hrs passed, family yet to receive teenager's body BSF shot dead
Forty-eight hours have passed but the family members are yet to receive the body of a 17-year-old Bangladeshi school student Minhajul Islam who was shot dead by India's Border Security Force along the Dainur border in Dinajpur Sadar upazila on September 7, 2022 (Wednesday).
This (September 9, 2022) morning, Jahangir Hossain the deceased's father submitted a written application to the commander of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Dainur BOP camp, requesting his son's body back, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting the victim's cousin Rubel.
Jahangir appealed to the BGB camp commander requesting to return the body, said Minhajul's cousin Rubel.
Talking to this correspondent, Naik Subedar Akhter Hossain of Dainur BPO under Fulabari BGB Battalion-29 said they got an application. Discussions are underway with higher authorities to return the body as there are some legal processes. They (family) will be notified later after the processes are done.
Minhajul, a class nine student of Khanpur High School, was killed in BSF firing along the Dainur border around 10:00 pm, on September 7 when Minhajul along with eight to 10 others went near the border of main pillar number 315 of Dainur border.
BSF later took his body inside the Indian territory.
Rubel Hasan further said that Minhazul was a student of class nine. In addition to studying, he also worked as a painter to bring some solvency to his family. For a few days, he used to roam with a local boy named Sumon regularly. Responding to his call, Minhazul went to the border that night.
