DCs asked to inform ministry if unregistered online portals spread rumours

Deputy commissioners have been asked to notify the information ministry if any unregistered online portal and IPTV spreads rumours so that legal actions can be taken against them.

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud revealed the information after a meeting with the deputy commissioners at the DC conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The DCs have also been asked to give counter messages to rumours to create awareness among people, the minister said.

"There are many unregistered online portals and IPTVs at the district level. These are used to spread misinformation and rumours," the information minister said.
