Bangladesh Ambassador to Poland, Japanese Ambassador to receive ‘Bangabandhu Medal for Diplomatic Excellence’

Bangladesh Ambassador to Poland, Sultana Laila Hossain, and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ito Naoki, will receive the 'Bangabandhu Medal for Diplomatic Excellence' – for their significant contributions.
The awards will be conferred on them at the opening of the new building of foreign ministry on July 7, ministry officials have confirmed to The Daily Star.
Sultana Laila Hossain has made extraordinary contribution during the Russia-Ukraine war when several thousand Bangladeshis left Ukraine and took shelter in Poland and other European countries.
She was also director general (consular) at the foreign ministry during the Libya crisis in 2011 when about 40,000 Bangladeshis returned home.
Sultana Laila, a 11th batch BCS (foreign affairs) official, earlier worked at Bangladesh missions in Los Angeles, Delhi and Yangon.
"Any such recognition is surely a matter of joy. I will be in Dhaka to receive the award on July 7," she said in her initial reaction to The Daily Star today (July 5, 2022).
Ito Naoki, meanwhile, has been playing an important role in boosting bilateral relationship between Japan and Bangladesh.
The 'Bangabandhu Medal for Diplomatic Excellence' was first introduced last year.
