Taposh asks councillors to complete development works before rainy season
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today asked all its ward councillors to take necessary steps so that contractors complete all ongoing infrastructure development works properly.
The DSCC mayor made the comment at a board meeting held at Nagar Bhaban with a target to give the city dwellers respite from waterlogging.
"We have a huge task ahead to solve the waterlogging during rainy season. Last year, we have showed a lot of success. This year is more important for us."
Taposh also said sometimes they find negligence on the part of contractors. So, councillors have to remain vigilant so that the contractors do their work properly.
He also asked them to monitor the work of cleaning the canals in the city.
"We have already appointed contractors to clean all drains. This work will start from the last week of February and will continue till April," said the DSCC mayor.
A councillor must be aware of a drain which is blocked with garbage, and he will have to take the initiative to clean it, the mayor said. "There is no alternative to cleaning drains to solve the waterlogging problem."
