A young woman was physically assaulted by some men and women at Narsingdi railway station for wearing what they claimed "indecent clothes".

Narsingdi station master ATM Musa told The Daily Star that the incident happened around 5 am yesterday (May 19, 2022). A scuffle took place when some women at the station objected to a young woman wearing "indecent clothes".

After she was attacked, the woman was forced to run into the station master's room and take shelter. Later, when the situation calmed down, she left.

Imaedul Jahedi, in-charge of Narsingdi railway station police outpost, told The Daily Star that the incident started when a woman at the station objected to what the young woman was wearing. But no one has filed a complaint about the incident.

"We're still looking into the incident. We will collect CCTV footage and act accordingly," he said.
