Schoolgirl stabbed to death in Rangpur
A schoolgirl was stabbed to death by some unidentified criminals in Rangpur's Kaunia on Tuesday night.
Sanjida Aktar Eva, 15, of Gorai village, was found groaning beside a road around 10 hours after she went missing.
Locals rescued the 10th grader and sent her to the upazila health complex immediately, but doctors declared her dead.
There were 18 cut marks on her body, said Selimur Rahman, inspector (investigation) of Kaunia Police Station.
The victim, a student of Borodargah High School, went missing around 10:00am on her way to the school, said her relative Solaiman Ali.
She was found around 9:00pm, said the police official, adding that the body was sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Police detained one in connection with the incident, he further said.
Meanwhile, the body of a 12-year-old boy was found floating on the Nayra Beal in the same upazila the same day.
The dead could not be identified immediately, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Haragachh Police Station.
The body bore several injury marks. He might have been tortured before the murder, the police official said, adding that the body was sent to RMCH morgue for autopsy.
