Retired school teacher found dead in Rajshahi
A retired school teacher was found dead at her house in Ghoshpara area of Rajshahi city this afternoon.
On information from locals, police recovered the body of Maya Rani Ghose (70), retired headmaster of Munnujan Government Primary School, from her room, said Nibaran Chandra Burman, officer-in-charge of Boalia police Station.
"She was suffocated to death," the OC said adding that they sent the body to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue.
The police official said a girl who used to help Maya in cooking, found her lying on the floor at 12:30pm. On seeing the body, the girl started screaming and later informed law enforcers.
Quoting the inquest report, the OC said her face was tied with a piece of cloth.
Her relatives reported to police that her gold ornaments and mobile phone were not found in the house after the incident, the police official said.
Talking to our Rajshahi staff correspondent, Maya's brother Debashish Ghose, a retired government official, said she had been living alone in her home.
Debashish said she had no enemy but she had a feud with a tenant of her house. The tenant was evicted two weeks ago through a social arbitration.
