The High Court today directed BTRC to continue removing the links to video of the "suicide" of Abu Mohsin Khan, a businessman and father-in-law of film actor Riaz, from all social media including YouTube and Facebook.

The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and SM Maniruzaaman passed the order during hearing a suo moto (voluntary) rule on this issue.

Earlier in the day, Khandker Reza-E Raquib, a lawyer for Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) placed a report before the bench, saying that BTRC has already identified 227 links to the video of Mohsin Khan's suicide and removed 202 links.

Of the total 202 links, 190 were removed from Facebook, six were removed from YouTube, three each were removed from TikTok and Likee under the HC directive, the lawyer said, citing the report.

After accepting the report, the HC bench adjourned the hearing for two weeks and fixed March 1 for resuming the hearing on the rule.

On February 3, the HC issued the suo moto rule and directed the authorities concerned of the government to remove the video of the "suicide" of Abu Mohsin from all social media within six hours.

Police said the man died by suicide at his home in Dhaka's Dhanmondi around 9:45pm on February 2.
