Kuwait-Bangladesh Hospital: ACC sues store officer, wife
Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday sued a Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital employee and his wife over possessing wealth beyond known source of income.
ACC assistant director Nazmus Sadat filed the case with its integrated district office in Cumilla against the hospital's store officer Habibur Rahman and his wife Sheuli Akhter, incumbent vice chairman of Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar upazila.
Habibur, in his 2017-18 income tax file, said he received total Tk 78.88 lakh as his salary and allowance. However, his total wealth adds up to Tk 1.03 crore, making a Tk 24.89 lakh mismatch evident to the investigators.
A Tk 79.05 lakh gap between his wife's income and wealth were also taken into account during the scrutiny.
According to investigators, the couple invested the illegally amassed amount (around Tk 1.04 crore) in real estate, buying a flat (worth Tk 45 lakh) in the capital alongside several plots in both Dhaka and Brahmanbaria.
