Female BCL leader relieved of duty over cattle theft in Dhamrai
Dhaka District North unit of Chhatra League's female student affairs secretary Babli Akhter, arrested in a case filed over cattle theft, was relieved of her party's duty today (November 2, 2022).
Saidul Islam, president of Dhaka District North unit of the BCL, confirmed this to The Daily Star this evening.
The latest development came hours after her arrest in connection with the case, reports our Savar correspondent.
The decision was taken against Babli for violating discipline of the organisation. A recommendation letter has been sent to the centre for her expulsion, said Saidul.
Babli Akhter was arrested from Nayabari in the Savar municipality area early today. Dhamrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atiqur Rahman confirmed the arrest in the morning.
Several incidents of cattle theft happened at different times in Dhamrai and several cases were filed, the OC told The Daily Star.
During the investigation of the cases, it was found that Babli used to keep the cows in her custody and sell those, he said.
When contacted, the police station's Sub-inspector Ashraful Islam said, "We had earlier arrested two people in the connection with the cases.
Babli Akhter's involvement was found during their interrogation and so she was arrested."
