Fardin murder case: Court orders CID for further probe
A Dhaka court today ordered Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation into a case filed over the death of Buet student Fardin Noor Parash in November last year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shanto Islam Mallik passed the order after Fardin's father filed a no-confidence petition against the DB report clearing Amatullah Bushra, an accused of the case, of murder charges.
In the petition, the victim's father Kazi Nooruddin, also the complainant in the case, sought further investigation alleging that the investigation officer did not probe the case properly
He also accused the IO of submitting the final report being biased by the accused.
The magistrate directed the CID to submit the probe report by May 24.
Bushra, who was granted bail on January 8, was present at the court today.
Detective Branch Inspector Yasin Shikder, also the investigation officer of the case, on February 6 submitted the final report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.
In the report, the IO said Fardin committed suicide in November last year.
"I scrutinised video footage, the inquest, post mortem and viscera reports, and other circumstantial evidence collected from the place of occurrence and other places and found that Fardin died by suicide. So, Bushra and others named in the case were not involved with his death," Yasin said in the probe report.
Fardin's father insisted that his son could never commit suicide.
Rampura police arrested Bushra from her Banasree house in the capital on November 10 last year after Fardin's father filed a murder case with Rampura Police Station.
She landed in jail on November 16 after her bail petition was rejected following the completion of her five-day remand.
Fardin, a third-year student of civil engineering, was found dead in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj on November 7, three days after he went missing.
After conducting an investigation for over a month, the DB and Rab on December 11 said Fardin died by suicide after jumping off a bridge into the river.
The following day, DB chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said they did not find Bushra's involvement in the incident.
