The prosecution today appealed to a Dhaka court, seeking an order for film actress Pori Moni to appear -- in person -- before it on October 13, the next scheduled date, in a narcotics case.
On June 2, the same court exempted Pori Moni from personal appearance before it in the case, considering her advanced stage of pregnancy.
In the petition, Assistant Public Prosecutor Mahmudul Hasan said Pori Moni recently gave birth to a baby boy and her personal appearance through her lawyer should be cancelled, the prosecution added.
Opposing the prosecution pleas, Nilanjana Rifat told the court her client gave birth to a baby boy a month ago and she would get a six-month maternity leave. So, she appealed to the court to dismiss the petition.
Upon hearing both the sides, Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka, without passing any order on the petition, kept it into the case file.
Meantime, Pori Moni's lawyer completed cross-examined the complainant Deputy Assistant Director Md Majibur Rahman of Rab.
On January 5, the same court framed charges against Pori Moni and her two associates in the case -- Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
