Drug case against Pori Moni: Charge framing hearing on January 2
A Dhaka court today fixed January 2 next year for hearing on charge framing against film actress Pori Moni and her two aides in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
Lawyer for Pori Moni submitted a time petition on grounds that she could not appear before it due illness.
While Pori Moni's aides -- Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain -- appeared before it today and they got bail as they were already on bail granted by Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court.
Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam of the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka passed the order after time petition and bail petitions were submitted on behalf of the accused in the case.
On November 15, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court accepted the charges against the three.
Kazi Golam Mostafa, inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka on October 4.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni and Dipu on August 4. They seized alcohol and narcotics from Pori Moni's residence.
The following day, the two were shown arrested in the case filed with Banani Police Station.
Later, Kabir was shown arrested in the same case.
On September 1, Pori Moni was released from jail on ad-interim bail, four weeks after her arrest.
