Bodies of couple recovered from Dhaka’s Demra
Police yesterday (June 28, 2022) recovered a throat-slit body of a woman and a hanging body of a man from a house in Dhaka's Demra area.
The deceased are Liakat Hossain (40), a medicine shop owner at Dogair area and his wife Sima Sultana (39), confirmed Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station.
Primary investigation suggests that the incident is a case of murder-suicide, police suspect as the woman's throat was slit and the body of the man was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station, said the couple's son Manjil Alam Limon informed police about their death over phone around 5:30pm.
Police recovered the bodies and collected evidences from the first floor flat of a five-story building and sent the bodies to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
The neighbours said Limon went to college in the morning, and after returning home around 4:30pm, he found the door of his parents' bedroom locked from inside.
As they did not respond despite repeated knocks on the door, Limon peeped through the ventilator and saw his father's body hanging from the ceiling, they said.
A police officer said they suspected Liakat committed suicide after killing his wife.
Police are investigating the incident, the OC said.
