In a drive last night, police arrested three leaders of Chhatra Jubo Odhikar Parishad's Chattogram unit in a case filed over attacking the JM Sen Hall puja mandap on October 15 in the port city's Andarkillah area.
The arrestees were identified as Md Nasir, Md Mizanur Rahman and Md Rasel, said police.
"Among them, Nasir is the convener of Chhatra Jubo Odhikar Parishad while Mizanur and Rasel are members of the parishad," said Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC), of Kotwali Police Station.
Nasir was arrested from Satkania while the two others were arrested from Chawkbazar and Sholoshahar Gate No-2 of the city, he said.
"They were the masterminds of the incident," the OC said, adding that police identified them after analysing CCTV footage.
Police have so far shown 83 persons arrested in the case filed by Sub-inspector (SI) Akash Mahmud Farid of Kotwali Police Station.
Police filed a case under Special Powers Act against the accused for attacking on-duty police officials, obstructing police from discharging government duty, vandalism, and hurting religious sentiments by bringing out procession, added OC Nezam.
