6 Rohingyas held in Cox’s Bazar
The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained six Rohingyas from different refugee camps in Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas of Cox's Bazar early today for their alleged involvement in various crimes.
They were detained during a special drive that police started after unidentified criminals shot dead Mohib Ullah, Rohingya rights activist and leader, at his office room in Kutupalong camp on the night of September 29.
The detainees are Abdul Mannan and Enayetullah of Madhusara camp, Abu Taher of Irani Pahar camp, Nazim Uddin and Noor Bashar of Lambashia camp and Osman of Kutupalong camp, reports our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent.
They are accused in multiple cases, said Nayeemul Haque, commander (superintendent of police) of the APBn-14.
They were involved in various criminal activities, extortion, abduction, robbery and murder, in Rohingya camps, he added.
All were handed over to Ukhia Police Station, Naimul Haque told The Daily Star.
The police official further said they will continue their drive to detain all the criminals staying in refugee camps.
