6 arrested over communal attacks in Noakhali’s Choumuhoni
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested six people suspecting their involvement in the recent communal attacks on Hindu temples, idols and properties during the Durga Puja celebrations at Choumuhoni in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila.
They were arrested from different parts of Begumganj yesterday, said Khandaker Md Shamim Hossain, Rab-11 company commander in a press release issued today, reports our Noakhali correspondent.
"We were able to identify the six after scrutinising CCTV footages from the spots that were attacked," said the Rab official.
The arrestees are Md Nizam Uddin (32), Md Russell (36), Abdul Motaleb Bablu alias Bablu (47), Md Shahadat Hossain (34) and Golam Kibria Sumon (32) of Begumganj upazila, and Anwarul Azim (40) of Sadar upazila, said the press release.
They (arrestees) were presented before the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate court today after a case was filed against them under Special Powers Act. Later, the court sent them to jail, said Rab.
