5 of a gang of robbers arrested in Faridpur
Police have arrested five members of a gang of robbers from Faridpur.
The arrestees are Al Amin (30), Jewel Rana (31), Babul Akhter (43), Ashik Mridha (37) and Imran Hossain (23), reports our Faridpur correspondent.
Al Amin was arrested from Bagat area of Faridpur's Madhukhali upazila on Friday night while the other four were arrested from Kanaipur area of Faridpur Sadar upazila in the early hours today, said Jamal Pasha, additional superintendent (admin and crime) of Faridpur police.
Police also recovered a stolen motorcycle, and seized a microbus and a private car the gang used to rob victims, said the additional SP at a press briefing held at the SP office today.
On September 9, the gang members, identifying themselves as police personnel, robbed a motorcycle from Munnu Rahman (25), hailing from Magura, on Dhaka-Khulna Highway on Karimpur bridge in Faridpur Sadar upazila, according to police.
The police official also said Al Amin gave confessional statement before a judicial magistrate yesterday. On basis of the information given by Al Amin, police arrested the four other robbers today.
The four other robbers were also produced in court today.
