43 wild animals rescued from Chandra Mahal Eco Park in Bagerhat
Forty-three animals of 16 species were rescued from Chandra Mahal Eco Park in Bagerhat today.
A mobile court, jointly led by Department of Wildlife and Nature Conservation and Rapid Action Battalion-6 members, conducted an operation around noon and rescued the wild animals from the park in Ranjitpur area of Bagerhat Sadar upazila.
The mobile court fined Tk 50,000 to Mohammad Ali Chakladar, manager of Chandra Mahal Eco Park, for illegally conserving wildlife animals.
Rab-6 Superintendent of Police Al Asad Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam confirmed the matter.
The Rab members seized deer antlers, deer hides, bear hide, kangaroo hide and a whale's skeleton, our Bagerhat correspondent reports.
The animals have been handed over to the Department of Wildlife and Nature Conservation.
Rab-6 SP Mahfuzul Islam, Executive Magistrate Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui, Wildlife and Nature Conservation Department Khulna Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Officer Tanmoy Acharya, Inspector Raju Ahmed were present.
The owner of Chandra Mahal Eco Park was keeping these animals illegally for business purposes, the Rab official said.
The animals will later be released in the wild, he said.
