32 BNP leaders get bail
The High Court yesterday granted six weeks' anticipatory bail to 32 BNP leaders, including its standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, in four criminal cases.
Three of the cases were filed with New Market and Dhanmondi police stations on May 24 on charges of attacking law enforcers, preventing them from discharging duties, and vandalism and violence during the road march enforced by BNP in Science Lab area in the capital on May 23.
Another case was filed with Jamalpur Sadar Police Station on May 25 after Rajshahi's BNP leader Abu Sayeed Chand made a statement "giving death threat" to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The HC also ordered the accused to surrender before lower courts in six weeks.
