8 including Natore Jubo League, BCL leaders sued for torturing teen; 2 arrested
Police have arrested two persons for brutally torturing a teenage boy for ransom in Natore on Saturday night.
The arrestees were identified as Ekram Hossain (35) from Nabinagar village and Md Abir (26) from Chakrampur village, reports our correspondent quoting Md Mansur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station.
One Abdus Salam filed a case yesterday morning with Natore Sadar Police Station against eight persons, including Roni Ahmed, general secretary of Natore municipality ward 4 Jubo League unit; his brother Rabiul Awal Bappi, also a member of Jubo League; and Abdullah Hill Shuvo, general secretary of Natore municipality Chhatra League unit.
Salam said he had disputes with one of the accused, Ekram Hossain, over a business-related issue.
"One Rabiul Awal Bappi and Mohammad Moni, with the help of Ekram and Abir, picked up me and my employee Faisal at knife point and took us to a Jubo League office at Kanaikhali area," said Salam.
They said Faisal was a "thief" and demanded Tk 3 lakh from him as ransom, Salam said, adding that the accused pulled off one of Faisal's nails as he failed to pay up.
On information, police rushed to the spot and detained Ekram and Abir, OC Mansur said, adding that the duo was shown arrested when the case in this connection was filed.
The victim is undergoing treatment at Natore Sadar Hospital, added the OC.
Ruhul Amin Biplob, acting general secretary of Natore district unit of Jubo League, confirmed the party posts of Roni Ahmed, Rabiul Awal Bappi and Abdullah Hill Shuvo. He said, "This is a brutal incident. Anyone involved should be brought to justice quickly and exemplary punishment should be ensured."
