No evidence of gaseous explosion at Gulistan site: Titas official
An official of Titas gas today said they did not find any evidence of gaseous explosion at the site of the Gulistan blast that left at least 19 dead and over 100 injured yesterday.
"The gas riser device in the building is intact. The evidence we have collected using a gas detector also does not indicate it was an explosion due to gas," Md Salim Miah, director operations of the operation division at Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Co Ltd told reporters.
"However, we cannot say what further investigation will reveal," he added.
At the same briefing, Major Mashiur, an official of the bomb disposal unit of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), said they have collected samples from the explosion site and have sent it to the laboratory for testing.
"This can happen from gas pipeline leakage or from other kinds of explosives," he said.
A dog squad is also assisting the rescue operation at the spot, he added.
