Man, son die in Rangpur pile-up
A father and his six-year-old son were killed and more than 20 people injured after two passenger buses and a truck collided in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur today.
The deceased -- Al Amin, 40, and his son Mahin -- were from Radhakrishnapur village in Pirganj, reports our Dinajpur correspondent quoting police.
Mozibar Rahman, in-charge of Borodargha Highway Police Station, said the father and son were going to Pirganj from Palashbari area by a bus. When the vehicle arrived in Boardghar area on Dhaka-Rangpur, it collided with another passenger bus heading to Dhaka from Kurigram.
At the same time, a truck hit one of the buses and overturned.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. Three of them were transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
In Dinajpur, a motorcyclist was killed as he fell onto Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in Birganj upazila yesterday, after hitting a goat.
Jasim Uddin, 30, succumbed to his injuries at Birganj Upazila Health Complex, said police.
Birganj Police Station OC Subrata Sarkar said Jasim was going to Birganj. The accident happened when he arrived at Balaka Mor.
