Fire from mosquito coil: After toddler, 2-year-old sister too dies
A two-year-old girl, whose brother had died in a fire originating from a mosquito repellent coil in their house in Munshiganj's Sreenagar upazila, has succumbed to injuries.
Ayesha (2), died while being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka around 10pm yesterday, reports our correspondent quoting Md Jalil Sheikh, the grandfather of the children.
She died due to inhaling too much smoke, the grandfather said quoting doctors.
The mother, Khadija Akter (28), who was injured in the same incident, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The fire broke out on the second floor of a three-storey building in Purba Munshia village around 9:30 on Monday night.
One-year-old Ayaz Mridha died in the incident.
Fire service officials said the blaze started from a mosquito repellent coil.
