Father, son killed as tractor-trolley hits them in Kurigram
A man and his son were killed after a brick-laden tractor trolley hit their bicycle while going to market for Eid shopping in Kurigram's Phulbari upazila today.
The deceased were identified as Ekramul Haque, 48, and his son Masud Rana,9, of Dharmapur village under Kashipur union, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting police.
Masud was a class three student of Kashipur Government Primary School. His father Ekramul was a farmer.
Mehedi Hasan, elder brother of Masud, said his father and younger brother were going to Phulbari Market on a bicycle this morning for Eid shopping.
When they reached Chander Bazar area around 10:00am, a brick-laden tractor trolley hit the bicycle, leaving Masud dead on the spot and his father Ekramul injured.
Ekramul was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with serious injuries, where he died this afternoon, Mehedi added.
Locals alleged that the trolley was being driven recklessly by its driver.
Confirming the incident, Fazlur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police Station, said the vehicle and its driver Milan Islam Babu were brought to the police station.
The victims' family are preparing to file a case in this regard the OC added.
