6 killed in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah, Pabna, Feni
Six people were killed this morning in separate road accidents in Jhenaidah, Pabna and Feni districts.
Bappi Sheikh (25) and Jamal Hossain (35) were killed in two road accidents in Shailkupa and Harinakundu upazilas of Jhenaidah, reports our local correspondent quoting Nasir Uddin, emergency department doctor at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
"The deceased were brought dead to the hospital," the doctor said.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Sohel Rana said the bodies were sent to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Pakshi area of Pabna's Ishwardi upazila, Nantu Biswas (30), a worker of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant was run over by a truck around 7am.
Nantu was going to work on a motorcycle, reports our local correspondent quoting Ashish Kumar Sanyal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pakshi Highway Police Station. A a sand-laden truck hit his motorcycle when he reached Baghail area killing him on the spot, the OC added.
Police recovered the body, but the truck driver managed to escape, the OC also said.
In Feni Sadar upazila, three people were killed when a bus collided head-on with a covered van on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway around 11am. At least 12 were injured in the accident, reports a correspondent.
Asif Iqbal, resident medical officer (RMO) of Feni General Hospital, said two of the injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital as they were critical.
Mahipal Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafa Kamal said the two vehicles were taken into police custody. Legal action in this regard is under process.
