543 people killed in 427 accidents in April: Road Safety Foundation

543 people killed in 427 accidents in April

At least 543 people were killed and 612 were injured in 427 road accidents across the country in April, Road Safety Foundation, a non-government organisation, said in a press release today (May 7, 2022).

Among the deceased, 67 were women and 81 were children, the press release said.

Road Safety Foundation collected the data based on reports in seven national dailies, five online news portals and electronic media.

A total of 206 people died in 189 motorcycle accidents, which accounted for 37.93 percent of the total deaths, the press release added.

Some 116 pedestrians and 87 drivers and helpers were killed in accidents during this period.

At least eight people were killed and six remained missing in six waterway accidents while 23 were killed and five injured in 21 train accidents.
