10 BNP men hurt as rally stage breaks down
Ten BNP activists sustained minor injuries as a portion of a rally stage in CDA Residential Area Field in Chattogram broke down all of a sudden while they were delivering speeches yesterday.
The injured have been given primary treatment.
According to the information provided by sources in BNP, a portion of the stage broke down as people getting on the stage exceeded its capacity.
BNP Chattogram south district unit organised the rally as part of the centrally declared programme, demanding better treatment of Khaleda Zia abroad.
BNP's central standing committee member Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the event where Jainal Abedin Faruk, adviser to the BNP chairperson, and Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, BNP's central organising secretary, spoke among others.
Khasru, in his speech, said BNP programmes could not be foiled by imposing section 144.
"Gone are the days when we would ask the police for permission to hold our programmes," he added.
People in the country are united now in their demand that the government step down, said Khasru.
