A decade of Chhobir Haat
In celebration of the 10th anniversary (2003-2013) of “Chhobir Haat,” a month long programme is currently on at the Chobir Haat premises, an art hub, opposite Charukala (Faculty of Fine Arts), Dhaka University. Photography and painting exhibitions, Baul songs, display of fireworks, light and shades and traditional Jatra staging are part of the festival. On martyred intellectuals' day (December 14), artistes of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) along with the artistes of Chhobir Haat staged Shaheed Munier Chowdhury's famous play “Raktakto Prantor” in traditional jatra form. Raktakto Prantor, a BSA production, has been directed by jatra artiste Sultan Selim. The alumni of Charukala, freelance artists, poets, litterateurs and performing artistes assemble and organise Chobir Haat that usually runs only on Fridays evenings.
