167 shops, houses gutted in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Jan 15: About 167 shops and houses were gutted in a fire at Kachalong bazar under Baghaichhari thana, leaving 20 people injured on Friday night, reports UNB.

Witnesses said the fire originated from a shop and soon engulfed the bazar. There is no Fire Brigade station in the area. Army personnel with the help of the local people brought the fire under control after three hours of frantic efforts.

About 300 people were affected by the fire.

Power Development Board sources said 50 kv line was also damaged in the fire.
