South Korean-based leading electronics maker Samsung Electronics Ltd opened its own brand office in Bangladesh on Wednesday, aiming to boost business by 30 percent in 2009.
"We will not only introduce our latest technology LCD televisions, monitors and mobile phones but also break new grounds with our innovative launches, like LED televisions and touch screen phones, and create a market for these products here," said Jung Su Shin, president and chief executive officer of Samsung for South West Asia HQ, at a programme in Dhaka.
"Setting up a branch office here will enable us to fully tap the potential of this rapidly maturing market by understanding and responding better to the needs of the market," said Shin.
The company had earlier marketed its home appliances and consumer electronics products though two local agents -- Electra International Ltd and Singer Bangladesh Ltd.
By setting up a branch office, the company also plans to introduce a wide range of new products -- large format display devices for signage purpose, a new range of digital still cameras and camcoenrders, LCD monitors and advanced range touch-screen mobile sets.
