DU students condemn wars
Students of Dhaka University (DU) at a rally yesterday condemned the ongoing wars all over the world and demanded an end to the bloodshed.
A total of 18 organisations, including Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan, Odhikar, Jago Nari Foundation, Bangladesh Math Foundation, ICT Journalists' Forum, Bangladesh Photographers, Prabhatferi and Banglar Mukh participated at the programme, jointly organised by Slogan' 71 and World March for Peace and Non-violence, at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla on Dhaka University campus.
DU teachers Prof Dalem Chandra Barman, Dr M Wahiduzzaman and Dr Zenat Huda, singers Andrew Kishor, Fahmida Nabi and human rights activist Dilruba Sharmin joined the programme.
After the rally, students posted the declaration paper of the rally addressing the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the university's post office.
Meanwhile, Prabhatferi, an organisation formed by a group of DU students, brought out a procession and held a cultural programme on Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) premises demanding trial of the war criminals.
DU Treasurer Prof Mizanur Rahman and Prof Anwar Hossain participated at the programme, says a press release.
